Improvement and Efficiency West Midlands are delighted to announce our 4th Annual Conference, hosted this year in partnership with the LGA and SEWM and sponsored by Virgin Media Business, the awarded provider of the West Midlands Public Services Network (PSN).
The event is being held on Friday 5th December at the ICC in Birmingham and is aimed at Chief Executives, senior officers, elected members and Leaders across local government, with additional limited spaces available to our wider public sector partners, private and third sector colleagues.
We promise an engaging, value-packed programme which this year will focus on sector led improvement and the role of innovation and technology in delivering local public services differently.
We are once again delighted to welcome Carolyn Downs, Chief Executive of the Local Government Association to provide the LGA’s perspective on current sector challenges and the collective ‘ask’ from government in the run up to the forthcoming General Election.
Our main conference sponsor, Virgin Media, will offer some exciting insights into local authority use of technology and how this is bringing genuine innovation to day to day service delivery.
The event will be chaired by Mark Rogers, Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council, President of SOLACE and Chair of the IEWM Board.
Mark, Carolyn, Jan Britton, Chief Executive of Sandwell MBC and Cllr Paul Middlebrough, Leader of Wychavon DC, will host a plenary session with delegates focused upon how we can ‘up the ante’ for the Sector Led Improvement agenda and secure even more value from our collaborative approach in future (Click here for our speakers biogs).
We will be hosting an exciting marketplace with around 15 partners from the public, private and voluntary sector to showcase what is out there to help us ‘Innovate, Improve and Invest’ in local public services.
We are also working hard to deliver a programme of topical workshops, allowing plenty of time for questions and debate.
This year the afternoon sessions will focus on the following themes:
- Current issues in Adult Social Care and Health
- Social Finance: New Investment Opportunities for Public Service Delivery
- What collective action should we take to tackle Child Sexual Exploitation?
- Digital Technology and Open Data
- What is the role of technology in the future of social care?
- The Knowledge Cloud
This is a major public service conference, a great networking opportunity and a chance to debate the most burning issues and challenges in the provision of local public services both in the run up to the General Election and beyond.
